The following information will give students in our class a general idea of what type of questions will be asked on each of this semester's tests.

  Jan. 22: Basic Map Info. Quiz:

Covers the material on pages s1 - s9 in text book with 10 multiple choice questions. Also, list all 7 continents and 4 oceans of the world, spelled correctly.

Feb. 1: Units 1 & 2 Test (60 points):

--> Matching: 4 Sets of Vocabulary, 5 words each

--> 20 Multiple Choice

--> 2 Essays: answer by using complete sentences

1 Describe the 5 themes of geography (5 pts.)

2. Describe how cultures change by using the 4 key terms on changing cultures from Ch. 7 (4 pts.)

--> Label Continents & Oceans on world map

Feb. 5: Canada Test-Ch. 16: (88 points)

--> Matching: 10 Vocabulary words & their definitions (1 pt. each)

--> 10 Multiple Choice (3 pts. each)

-->2 Essays: answer by using complete sentences

1. Know Canada's major landforms (4 pts)

2. Describe the Canadian/U.S. relationship--stress economy & culture (5 pts)

Feb. 23: Unit 5 Test- Europe (115 points):

Mar. 9: Unit 6 Test- Former U.S.S.R (96 points):

--> Matching: 2 sets of Vocabulary, 5 words each

--> 2 Essay questions:

1. Describe the Cold War (7 points)

2. Explain why the Soviet Union always had shortages of Consumer Goods (5 points)

March 20: Unit 7 Test- S.W. Asia (113 points):

March 29: First Term Exam (1/4 of term grade):

Western Europe: countries, major capitals, all microstates, &
3 Mt. Ranges, 3 Islands, 6 bodies of water, and

6 Rives (including the Tiber in Italy)

Eastern Europe: countries and capitals, 1 River, and 3 Seas

Former Soviet Union: countries, 4 major cities, and 4 bodies

of water, 2 Mt. Ranges, & 1 River (the longest one in Europe)

S.W. Asia: countries, major capitals, 2 Rivers, & 4 bodies of

water

--> List the continents in order of population size

April 25: Africa Test (128 points):

--> 4 Essay Questions:

1. Explain which countries you would and would not invest capital in.

2. Describe the effect of Apartheid ending in South Africa.

3. Discuss the positive and negative effects of cultural diversity.

4. Take a stand on using economic sanctions against human rights violators.

May 7: East Asia Test (126 points):
